Feels Like Today

Too many times in the past 2 weeks, I’ve been jolted awake by an abrupt intrusion.  A jarring telephone call.  An abrupt realization that life is not the same, that I’m not sleeping in my bed in State College; and my brother is in the hospital fighting for his life.  Life’s not supposed to be like that.

But today was different...
I woke up this morning
With this feeling inside me that I can't explain
Like a weight that I've carried
Been carried away, away
But I know something is coming …
(Feels Like Today by Rascal Flatts)

Today, I woke up slowly, wondering if I’d hear good news.  Within a few minutes, I got texts from two of my brothers.

From Bobby:  “AM.  In the AM.  They’re here to take him to the fight!”
(Confused about the AM part?  Indirect references to other conversations is something Bobby loves to do. He likes messing with people (especially me), but we're all fine with it, because it adds fun to life. “AM” refers to a conversation we had last night. He told me Billy would move soon, because info was in to the chief of staff, and he should have order [to move] tomorrow [meaning Wednesday]. I asked if he was moving in the AM (meaning Wednesday) or PM (meaning Tuesday, last night). He said he didn’t know, but he’d let me know if he found out.  That was last night.  We both went to sleep.  The conversation ended.  True to his word, he let me know...  But that was after both of us already knew the answer to the question.

From my brother, Danny:  “They moved Billy!  He’ll be on a private jet within the hour! Nonstop on his way to D.C.  God answers prayer!

As I write this, the transport team is on the way to the airstrip (takes 20 minutes to get there) with Billy and my mom.  Bobby and Danny are on the road.  They’ll be here tomorrow sometime.  Billy and my mom should be here within a few hours.

Pray for safe travels, and especially a smooth transition for Billy.

I’m off to get ready to meet them!  More to come…

  6. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Looks like you've all got such a strong support group behind ya! I saw you mentioned State College. Is that State College, PA? If so, I am in Lock Haven, a small town not far from State College... didn't realize we were so close!
